The Old Coach House

10 Guests 6 Beds

The Old Coach House is a beautiful Cotswold stone property hidden away in a quiet private lane yet just a 10 minute stroll from Witney's High Street shops, restaurants and cafe's.

This large and quirky property, dating back to the 1700s, is arranged to make best use of the Old Coach House layout and retains many original feature walls and beams.

Layout

On the ground floor you enter a lovely country kitchen via a stable door. The fully fitted kitchen has a beautiful vaulted ceiling and is open plan to the spacious dining area. From the dining area there is a small set of steps up to a huge lounge with patio doors and double windows  onto the sunny patio and enclosed private garden.

There are 3 bedrooms on the first floor, with a few steps up and down to each room.

The Master suite has a king-size bed, sitting area and a Juliette balcony with a lovely garden view, plus a large walk-in wardrobe/dressing room and en-suite.

Along the hall is the large family bathroom, with exposed Cotswold stone brick work, and two more bright and sunny bedrooms (one double and one twin). At the end of the hallway you will find a second staircase leading down to the fourth bedroom; another bright and spacious double with its own en-suite and access to the driveway.

Things to Note

The Coach House has beautiful high ceilings throughout the property, but there are a couple of points where structural beams are lower and you may need to mind your head! This is on entry and exit to the master bedroom (just over the steps), the stairs to bedroom 4 and (if you are over 6ft) the beam in the kitchen.

Bedroom 4 is not suitable for young children as it is down the second staircase - away from the rest of the bedrooms and the living space.

  • "Wow - what a house!! So much room in a house that can fit 10 people! It is so beautiful with its oak beams and original features. The house is also surprisingly very warm (I have always found big houses to be cold!). The patio and garden is lovely. Tucked away from the high street down a cobbled path, no road noise at all, but only a 2 minute walk away. Colette is a fantastic host - always responds to questions quickly. Cant recommended highly enough - will 100% be back."

  • "Had a wonderful weekend exploring Witney, the house is located in perfect position for lovely long walks complete with country pubs to stop at for much needed refreshments. The house is a great size, we were at full capacity but you certainly don't feel like you're in each other's pockets. All amenities provided, we wanted for nothing. Thank you for a great time, we will be back x"

  • "The Old Coach House is a really beautiful building. Good detailed arrival instructions make it an easy place to find, and it is a spacious building with all that you could want and some lovely added quirks. A great place for a large group of people to go to - we used it for the weekend for me and my bridesmaids to stay in for my wedding but we all remarked on how it would be a lovely place to go to for just a week's holiday! Big garden, big lounge, great kitchen/dining space and a good variety of beautiful bedrooms. Loved our time there!"

  • "The Old Coach House is a great place for small groups. We arrived to find a welcome basket of goodies, every room was sparkling clean and nicely presented. It is close enough to walk into town to sample the many coffee shops, restaurants and pubs and also visit many Cotswold attractions including Blenheim Palace. We enjoyed our time there very much."

  • "Colette’s coach house was perfect for our group. The house was clean and the space was brilliant meaning our dogs could run around downstairs and we could all have dinner together at the big dinning table. The location is brilliant, just a 5 minute walk into the centre or Witney which has lovely little shops and cafes. There was the added bonus of a lovely garden (which we would have used more if the weather was better) and enough parking for 4 cars easily. Colette was very quick with responding which was really helpful. We would recommend for a group stay!"

  • "This house is special. It has so much character and plenty of space for our large family to enjoy time together. Colette was a great host. She was very quick to respond to queries. The place was very clean and tidy with super bed linens and towels. The master bedroom has a useful dressing room with hanging space, power points, dressing table, cupboard space, shelves etc. We really appreciated this as it helped tremendously having a space in which to prepare for our family wedding. The lounge is huge! Lovely spacious kitchen/ diner. Bedrooms great. There is a fenced garden and nice patio area. We loved the place and hope to return again in the future."

  • "This is a truly beautiful and characterful property and Colette is extremely helpful and easy to communicate with. We had a short yoga holiday here and the main room was a delight to practice in. The place is very thoughtfully furnished and kitted out and the beds are very comfortable, and everything is in an excellent state of decor."
